Bogen Tripods

Re: Bogen Tripods

i looked at those legs and they look nice.

i have the 525mvb - it is the 503 head. i love it and if i buy another tripod it would probably be the exact same setup.

Re: Bogen Tripods

I have the 3181 legs (I don't know if it's close to the one you're considering) w/ 501 head & it works pretty good. I also recommend lighter legs 3021 PRO for fast work, lots of walking and it spreads out for flat ground level shots.

The 501 works great, but the 503 is more of a pro head with the spring tension balance mechanism. What ever you get make sure you have a level bubble on the head so you can set up proper pans.

Re: Bogen Tripods

3182 are very hi-quality extremely sturdy legs (44lbs). Because they have no spreader, they set up as fast as photo tripods. Because they are one-stage, they come up to full height with just 3 snaps. And they also have claw feet, so they are easy to mount on dollies. Great all around tripod, and excellent value. Can't get a 75mm ball for the same price. Bear in mind you need the 3284 ball adapter if you want to mount a 501 or 503. ;D

Re: Bogen Tripods

Hey Rush - seems the 3182 and the 3181 are the same? Why the different series #?

Re: Bogen Tripods

I have the 3182 with 503 head , i love it, between the ball leveler and quick set up, great cobo, get the padded case and the strap, its a must...also call up bogen and have them send you some replacement snaps, the only downside to this setup, i ordered from b&h and upon receival one of the snaps on the legs was broken, i exchanged it, and also called bogen and they sent me a couple extra just in case it was to happen again, but its been a year and no problems, but i know im safe...+

Hey Matthew, I have exactly the same head and sticks, plus the Manfrotto Cine Dolly - the one with the big 5" wheels. You'd have to pry mine out of my cold dead hands.

Re: Bogen Tripods

i use the 525 and 503 kit as well.. used it many many many times and just recently finally broke it... its a killer head and killer sticks, well worth the price. In fact even if I moved up to a better head I would still use the 525s.

Re: Bogen Tripods

Has anybody used the carbon one legs like the 3445? They seem to weight half of what the aluminum ones weigh...
thanks,
Sam
