Hi, is there anyone here who owns the Bogen MDeVe 755B tripod? If yes, i would like to hear about your appreciation.

The only fear i have is that it won't be stable enough to use during windy conditions in the field. I heard that you could hook a weight on this type of tripod for those situations ? How exactly?

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

You could probably hook a weight to the center column, perhaps through the horizontal channel for mounting the center column horizontally.

I've not had mine to blow over yet, and wouldn't want to be in the tornado that would do so.

I would think so. I know I don't favor lugging it around, as it is quite heavy, particularly by the time you put a good video head on it.

I really enjoy the leveling feature.

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

I agree it is a little heavy, but you get used to the weight very quickly due to the compact size of the 3021BPRO legs. I love that tripod and I own the same one. Dunno what I'd do without a leveller on a tripod. It also looks really cool once mated with the Super-Cool Gitzo G2380 Head. There are plenty of accessories you can buy for it to make it more stable or to make carrying it easier. Just goto www.bogenimaging.us and look under Accessories>Tripod Accessories and then Straps. Here are a few neat ones: Bogen 055CCSB Short Column, Bogen 230 Snow Shoes, Bogen 401N Quick Strap, 3430 Leg warmers, 3146 Apron. Tripod fits perfectly into the MBAG80P. Also, feel free to ask me any questions. ;D

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

I love these legs. A great combo of weight, durability, ease of use, and stability. The weight and compactness of it make it very easy to want to use. great for running and gunning.

if you are worried about extremities..I don't think you'd be using any less caution on this than a more expensive tripod. In all cases, you'd use accessories of some sort to keep the thing down--and of course you would not leave it unmanned matter what. If it was a tornado or hurricane you wouldn't be using a tripod.

I use a 503 head with it and the combo has never let me down.

I bought it as a set at Adorama, came with a bag, I believe all under $450 or $500?

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

Don't get me wrong. I'm not criticizing it for being heavy, though it is. That weight makes it a fine set of sticks.

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

Heavy? Man, I've got some 3068 legs with the ball leveler on there. The combo is about 14 and a half pounds, not counting the head weight. So that six-pound 755 is not exactly a heavyweight, where I'm coming from...
:)

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

No, it certainly isn't by comparison. But it is heavy enough to be stable, and not fun to lug with a head on it. :)

Re: Bogen MDeVe 755B

Still, six pounds sounds heavenly. Looks like they also make a carbon-fiber version that's only four pounds, but I can't tell for sure whether it loses the "lateral arm" capability.
