Bogen 503 pan tension???

I own a bogen 501 head and when I crank up the PAN tension it just dosen't get stiffer than what I would like it to. Anyone know if the 503 gets Stiffer than the 501?

i have the 503 also and the lil lock that tightens the pan goes left and rite and when i try to tighten mine there is always a slite pan to it dont know why it would lock it down completly when turned all the way to the rite.

I would skip the 503, buy the 519, it's worth the extra money.

Theres a 519 ive heard of the 516.

bilgami, the tension on the 501 is a round knob that is located directly under the plate holder and has a + and - on it. It sounds as if your talking about the pan lock instead. But, then again you have the 503.

your rite althoug it never really tightens to the point where i cant pan whatso ever

The tension knob is used to balance your tripod head, not to lock it. If it's head heavy you go "+" until it is balance.

does the 519 head fit on the 475b legs and does the 503 and 519 use the same long plate?
