Bogen 501 Quikrelease and Mattbox

Had a quick question regarding the DSMB44KTW Century Mattbox and the 501 Head ( Quick release) . I was told that I would need to order the DS-MBTS-xx Century DV Tripod Spacer for DSMB44-00 Mattebox and tripod heads that quick release from the rear only because there is an issue. Can anyone confirm this?

That matte box is somewhat limited due the reasons you point out, plus it uses 12mm rods (no way to connect a follow focus), and it isn't a wide angle matte box...

That said, there are several brand new ones on eBay right now...

Is the number I gave (DSMB44KTW) not the MKII WIDE kit with the 15mm rods or are you refering to something else?

Umm, you are right. That is the wide angle matte box. You will not need any additional "tripod spacers" with that one. If we've talked before, you will know the one you have selected is my personal favourite!

Additionally, it appears the standard (non-wide) MKII matte box with 12mm rods will fit a Bogen 501 head without the tripod spacer. Thank you to Graeme Nattress for the photo from his website, www.nattress.com
