Bogen 3066 Tripod Head

Hey guys,

I'm new to the boards. I just found this site and am very excited to find a community using this camera. I'm using it for a zombie movie I'm directing this summer/fall and plan to scour the boards for as much info as I can.

I have one current problem, and it's going to sound dumb. I bought a Bogen 3066 tripod head on e-bay and just got it the other day. But I don't know how to attach the camera to it. It came with no screws and no instructions. So I don't know what to do. I was told this would be a good head for the DVX100 and for my uses.

Anyone know what I need to do?

Re: Bogen 3066 Tripod Head

hello, i have the 3066 and there should be a thumb screw that you pull back allowing you to pull out the plate. on the plate, there should've been different sized screws(1 being the standard size for the dvx). that is where you attach the dvx.

Re: Bogen 3066 Tripod Head

The Bogen 3066 is a massive tripod head, more suitable for large broadcast/eng cameras. It's a very, very good tripod head, but might be overkill for a DVX.

To attach the camera, you have to use the quick-release plate, which should have come with at least two screws (1/4 and 3/8). Go to bogenphoto.com and look up the 3066 and 3158 and you'll see what you should have.

Re: Bogen 3066 Tripod Head

Thanks for the replys. It came with no screws, so I'll have to find some, or just replace the whole plate. Any ideas on where I could just find the screws?

And yeah, I was surprised by how sturdy it was. I wasn't expecting it to be so heavy duty. A little overkill I suppose, but better that then not good enough.

Re: Bogen 3066 Tripod Head

yeah its a hard call. Its nice to use a Cine-Sachtler once in awhile, until you hafta move it. the 503, as barry said, is the perfect balance IMHO between weight and something you actually wanna carry around.
