I've read one blurb on here about this head being the predecessor to the 501. Any thoughts about it? I've found some used and am wondering if it is a worthy head?

What is a good price for this with 3036 legs?
Thanks.[/quote]
Hi Verde, that is the predecessor to the 501. It is not as smooth as the more modern head, but it is very worthy for the right price. The 501 sells for $135, http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=3433
so a new 3063 should not go for more than $100, and used for $60. I dunno about the tripod, but I have never seen a crappy Bogen tripod, so it has to have built in value, unless it was damaged. ;D
I have a used 3063/3046 setup, and i just have to say that this whole configuration is solid. Im about 125 lbs. and have stood on the whole thing and it keeps it's height. Once you lock your cam plate in, it wont come out, especially if you use the second lock. I'd agree that it isn't as smooth as modern heads, but for slower pans it does the job.
Phew...Thanks. After buying my DVX, $600 mic, extra batts, filters, etc. in the past two months, I have terrible buyers guilt. Glad to know I saved a few on this one.
