body mic?

Okay I'm trying to figure out how to create a high amplification microphone that I can have discretely on my body so I can record things as I walk in public. So far I figured I'd need a portable small harddrive to record to, say 80g, hopefully smaller. What type of mic should I get that is small enough yet powerful enough to be discrete. I want to be able to record everything within earshot for this 1st person film I'm planning of making. Will I need a program on the portable harrdrive to record with or should I just go out and rent a dat somewhere and that would be the best route to go.

I need some guidance please. That film is ready to be captured.

Hi Ralph,
I'm curious as to why you're thinking you need a harddisk for portable audio recording? A solid state (flash memory) or minidisc recorder would seem more suitable. A few gig of flash memory will record hours of uncompressed 16 bit audio. For inconspicuous recording (I assume you mean 'discreet' rather than 'discrete'), I suggest you might check out the gear that people use for secretly (illegally?) recording live concerts.

Also, I'm no expert but I would guess that there are potential legal issues with using a recording of someone without their knowledge.
