BMX race promo (from day to night) using Fs5, A7sii, DJI Ronin, DJI Phantom & Gopro.

Here is our latest video on BMX racing filmed from day to night.

My colleague and I filmed it with a Sony Fs5 (slog3), A7sii (slog3), DJI Ronin, DJI Phantom 3 & the Gopro 4, Canon & Sony lenses:

Hope you will enjoy it as much as we did shooting it with this equipment!

Really nice work!

As someone who used to race some 25 years ago, who has photographed and filmed the sport (til 2004), its great to see it still thriving.

Awesome video - great work!!! :-D

Looked great throughout, and given the small circuit size and multiple-runs, I was impressed that you managed to keep the edit from ever feeling repetitive. My only constructive criticism might be to ask what PP you used for the night shooting, and if (as I suspect) you stuck with Slog3 on the Sonys throughout (as I have done many times with my FS7, in the name of 'consistency'), that next time you might explore some of the low-light oriented hypergammas (or whatever they're called on the FS5!). I think that they might've given you cleaner, richer colours in the low-light tungsten night time sections. (Just make sure to switch 'matrix' off! ;-)

Really great work though - I look forward to seeing the next one!

Cheers,

Excellent work once again Steven. Love the way you create movement whilst retaining composed images. Not easy that!

I doubt that's tungsten. Looks like mercury or sodium vapour lamps to me, the devils light.

Thanks you all for your kind comments!

These lights where a problem for both the A7s and the Fs5... no idea what they were but impossible to do a correct white balance in the different cine-gammas so we decided to leave both cameras in Slog3 and correct the balance in post.

In the night the A7s had the Canon 16/35mm 2.8 on the DJI Ronin and handheld. The Fs5 had the Sony 18-105mm f4 as we needed to shoot every run of the final on a tripod for the BMX club.

Everything was shot internally in 1080p but we just got our Shogun Inferno so looking forward to shoot with it on our next project! Well we are still waiting since a month for the RAW update... don't know what's up with Sony...
