Here's a little video I made 1. to test my 7D's footage and workflow in Final Cut and 2. to start learning Soundtrack Pro. No audio was capture at the time of the video shoot. All of the audio was captured later, or created in STP. The music was also built in STP.
took me a minute, well i guess i am still trying to find the meaning to this commercial, because it sure does seem like you were trying to send one. is the black and white mean highways are crazy and then when you drive a bmw your life is in color meaning driving is fun? please help.....
most importantly.....this needs a voiceover, badly. some gentleman's voice explaining bmw's heritage or something.
I like it. I did miss an outside shot of the car at the end though. You left me with just the sound of the car accelerating but no visual. I'm sure that was a conscious decision on your part. Well it makes me angry because I love BMWs and really wanted to get that satisfaction at the end.
Going from a medium TS of the ignition to a medium TS of the gear shift, with nearly identical framing is bad form. It looks like a bad jump cut. Use a camera move, a cutaway, change lenses, different framing - anything to smooth the transition between shots. Personally, I don't think two 3 second shots of the back of the hand sells cars or is even remotely interesting.
The adage, "Leave them wanting more", holds true. However you have to give them something along the way in order for them to want more. Right now the viewer is treated to a pair of sneakers and the back of a hand. It's unlikely they want more of nothing.
Oh wait...you were just testing the camera, right?
When you move beyond the testing phase, work out the story details before going into production. 5D, 7D, Red; nobody cares about the format if the content blows.
