Well, I had to dust off my copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. I was going to type the whole section on angels in, but it's too long. To sum up, not only does the Catholic Church recognize the existence of angels as mentioned in the Old Testament (Lot, Abraham, all of that), and the New Testament (Gabriel at the Annunciation of both Jesus and John the Baptist); but states "...the whole life of the Church benefits from the mysterious and powerful help of angels" "from infancy to death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession" "Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and sheperd leading him to life"
