I know alot of you use Bluehost.com for hosting and I am thinking about signing up but I keep reading post on their forums about CPU Maxed out error messages and problems with lots of downtime on servers.

Has anyone here experienced that problem or any other problems using them for hosting? Would I be better off with Hostmonster.com who is the same company with less clients?

(BTW I plan on using Isara for the referal so they will get the donation)

I've used bluehost for 2.5 years now, and never had any problems. If anything, they've bumped up a few extras for free, and sent me an email to let me know there's no additional charge for the upgrades.

I don't get a lot of traffic, so I don't know about downtime, but I have recieved 2 (I think) emails saying their doing maintenance and my site would be down for an hour or so. Everytime I check the my site... it's up and running smoothly.

Like I said though, I don't get a lot of traffic, and my site just kind of sits in idle mode most of the time.

Thanks a lot, Matthew. :) $65 goes a very long way over here. We just donated a lot of sporting equipment to a small school yesterday and the total cost was only $30.

In case anyone else wants to help - http://www.bluehost.com/track/isara/

We had the "Exceeded CPU Quota" a few times but it was usually because the scripts on our site were not working properly (not coded correctly - my fault) and we received a lot of traffic at one time. Haven't had any problems since cleaning house (removing some bad scripts) last month. I wouldn't worry about the CPU Quota issue. It typically means your site has poorly coded scripts. If you're just going to have html, flash, and video, then your site will be fine. But if you're going to use a lot of different open source scripts (Joomla, Coppermine, phpBB, etc.) then just make sure you don't alter them too much, like I did. D'oh!

Have fun building your new site and thanks again!

Note: This is turning into a Texan thread. Ryan's from Dallas, you're from Austin, and I'm from Houston (and Austin).
