Blue Yeti into PC and premiere = WAY TOO LOUD?

So ive been using my blue yeti mic for over 2 years at work on a pc. I plug it in usb and record in adobe premiere. I took the mic home this weekend and plugged it into my computer and whenever i try to do a voice over its peaking the whole time. i turn the recording down in premiere and the gain all the way down on the mic but its still peaking. Is there a setting somewhere to turn down the internal recording of a mic?

I use the Blue with the gain at the bottom and the volume at the highest setting.

I suppose I could increase the gain and decrease the volume and get the same performance.

The third pattern selection from the left seems to give the best result.

I use it for 99 pct of all my phone calls and GoToMeeting sessions with clients.

No problems, ever.

If you want to hear how it sounds (no hollow tunnel effect). send me a PM with your phone number, I will phone you and we can test it at various volume, gain and pattern settings.

Possibly there is a mic level setting in the operating system. You said PC so I'm guessing not a Mac, so someone else can be more specific. On a Mac that would be in the systems settings under sound. There ma also be a setting in the driver if you installed one. Software like Premiere generally only controls their end of things so where ever you set levels for going into your system is my first suspect.

thats all exactly what i do. Ive used two PCs and recorded pro voice overs for years. I now have a custom built PC at my home and for some reason none of this works at home because everything is wayy to loud no matter what the mic settings are. I need to figure out where Noiz2 was talking about and adjust the levels for going into my system... I just dont know where that is. Ive randomly clicked around and found a couple places that have levels to adjust but when i do the overall sound is louder or quieter but the audio is still peaking so it sounds distorted but not as loud.
