I have the Blue Spark mic and normally plug it into my tascam dr-40 to record my podcast/web show. I want to do a few simple voice overs for my gaming channel and was wondering if I got a simple XLR to USB cable like this: http://amzn.to/1OTllFN if it would work recording into my computer? I don't need great audio since this is a part time project i'm trying to rush and not put a lot of effort into.

Yes, there are now many simple USB audio devices like that. I don't have any knowledge of that specific product.
But in general those "XLR to USB" devices were made specifically for the kind of application you cite.
That class of gadget started out closer to $50 and there are still many of the name-brands up at that price.
It is interesting that prices have fallen that much, but given the proliferation of the technology, it is not very surprising.

HOWEVER: Your fancy microphone requires 48V phantom power, and that "XLR to USB" cable does NOT provide power.
So it will not work with your phantom-powered condenser mic.
There are other "XLR to USB" adapters that DO generate phantom power, and your mic won't work without it.

OTOH, there are probably easier to use solutions that don't require using a big condenser microphone.
Especially if you are only recording casual voice-overs, etc.

I have the same mic. I use a USB audio interface. It needs phantom power and a good mic pre. Neither of which will you get from that cable. Why don't you just record into the DR-40 and then input that audio file into your computer for editing?
