Blue Snowball

I just bought Blue's Snowball, a USB mic for my Mac. I gotta tell you that it's pretty awesome. Before I had to set up a preamp for XLR and use a heavy desktop stand which was kinda a hassle just to do a quick VO. The Snowball is around $160 (really a low price for the quality) and includes a nice tripod type stand. I can record quickly into garageband. Sound quality is really impressive, not even comparable to the other crapola USB mics I've tried.

Hmmm... I don't mean to shoot you down, Marlene, but here is a much better XLR mic for VO work for even less money.

And here is an even better mic for VO work. They are both dynamic mics requiring no phantom or battery power.

Heil rocks!

Yeah....I have many XLR mics which work fine (running through preamp for phantom power) and a few USB mics that aren't as good as this, but.......this is really a nice unit as far as USB mics go. I travel away from my desktop setup and use a G4 powerbook so I like the simplicity of this unit for "on the road" work. I've tried a lot of mics and yes, some xlr's are better, but.....I'm really impressed with the quality of the Snowball.
