Blue Screen + Final Cut

In my office the walls are all mid blue and I'm wondering if I record an artist singing behind the walls can I just add a background in post if it's well lit.

My first thing is just testing it out just to see how it works. I'm not sure how to composite but I'll read the tutorurial unless someone has a simple way of doing this

use Keylight in After Effects. FCP keying is terrible. Light the wall evenly. And get a lot of music to listen to when you are keying for long hours.

You should use a compositing software to properly key, unless you have a keying plug in such as ultimate, primate, keylight, ect...

I get great results out of FCP, but you have to do it correctly. Bad lighting is the worst enemy of keying. FCP has a variety of tools that do this pretty well. Not as well as a compositing app, but I've been able to do all mine just dandy in FCP.

I'd recommend doing Lesson 9 in the APTS book, Advanced Color Correction and Effects in Final Cut Pro 5, it'll get you up to speed really fast.
