Blue ray FCP output ?

A client ask me about blue ray and if our computers were capable of outputting this yesterday. I've looked around and I sure my 2 gen G5 won't, but I'm not seeing that the new Macs do either.

Any insight on this ?


I'm shooting a HVX200a, how or what output to disk options do we have for something like this ? Doesn't make sense if you get into HD and then output a a SD DVD....

out of fcp u can send it out as uncompressed and use software such as the new toast, or adobe encore to do the encoding for you with the least amount of loss for blu ray burn. of course u'll need a blu ray burner, lots of options out there.

hd to sd dvd = some of the best looking sd dvds u can get. in my personal opinion, FCP 3 is being announced soon, and i'm sure the new dvd studio pro is gonna have a proper BD support, with better quality compression via compressor. i'd hold out for that. i never liked how adobe handles codecs, and toast doesn't let u make menus.
