Blu ray via Encore. Jagglies

OK I have a roundabout way of working so bear with me with I explain. Perhaps someone will be able to see where I am going wrong.

I work in FCP. I export to quicktime movie using the Prores 422 HQ codec as a 1280 x 720 movie. File size about 65 Gb.

I import this movie, which looks superb, into encore. I make the menues etc and then go to build blue ray dvd and as iso file. The movie is then transcoded as an mpeg 2 highest quality blue ray iso. I transfer the iso ( about 20Gb) over to my pc and use Nero to burn it on my LG Blue ray burner.

It plays perfectly on my PS3, with full menues. But the image isn't perfect as I would like. Edges have jaggies ( steps).

So where am I going wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Its a pain to transfer to the PC but thats where the burner is. don't think that is the problem, more the transcodeding.

Would transcoding in H.264 be any better? Encore is seems uses a Mainconcept Mpeg codec.

If you can use compressor for h.264 and take that file to your pc and use it, that would probably be best. I compress blu-ray using the AVC codec on my pc.

I've heard encore sucks for compressing footage. Also, I usually compress at 35000kbps for blu-ray

HI Eric, its definately an Encore problem. I bring the same footage into Vegas and burn a blu ray from the timeline and the results are brilliant. Trouble is I need menues and Encore is currently the only solutin. So do I give the customer the best possible image and no menues, or a sub standard image with menues? I think I wil have to do t all thrugh Vegas and eplain to the customer the current limitations in the technology.

Thanks
Steve
