Blu-ray Settings

I just compressed a blu-ray file with sorenson squeeze, located under the mpeg1-2 presets, i chose Bluray. The way it was set up, the kbps was only 7812...I'm not sure if I made a blu-ray file or an mpeg 2...

50 min was only 3.2 GB, and didn't look any better than mpeg 2... but resolution was set at 1920x1080

Has anyone else done this before?

Mpeg-2 is becomming an old standard and really shoulnd't be used unless you have no way of compressing h.264 or don't care about the quality and just want a quick encode.

Premiere Pro's blu-ray presets are h.264 with 16mbps at 18mbps max with dolby digital + audio.

PCM direct audio is always free (and sounds a little better), but uses more space.

Blu-ray has a lot of options for you to master on.

Thanks for the response. I'm not sure if there is h.264 in sorenson 4.3 but I will take a look.

I compressed the file again, and this time increased the data rate from 7812 to 24000.

The picture was very clean. I will try some other settings with a smaller file when I have time. thanks

i wish i could take a course on all thi compression business. its greek to me.
