Blu ray or HD

Will there be a winner? I hear that they can make disks that are read by both formats, no?

They can and should do that.... but who knows.
All you need is transparent blu-ray layers (since they're at .1mm into the disc.) and then however many HD-DVD layers you want (at .65mm into the disc.).

You could get a regular SD DVD, single or dual layer, in there too (since SD DVD is at .6mm into the disc.). Then a consumer can buy any player and then just buy one disc for all three formats.

Honestly, I think they should flip the layer depths of DVD and HD-DVD and then you could put a red filter in just after the last HD-DVD layer, so just the red laser passes through. .05mm shouldn't be to much of a difference for a laser right? So current SD DVD players could handle that .05mm further depth, without having to change the laser optics in the players?
