Blu Ray/ HD DVD DEAD!

I've been saying this for what seems like a couple of years now.

Blu-ray and HD-DVD are both going to represent one of the most colossal failures in the home electronics industry. Disc (and physical media in general) are dead, iTunes points the way towards the future. blu-ray (and HD-DVD) are both "too little, too early." Too small for archiving (hence "too little"), and HD is in its infancy even in the USA (hence "too early"), so where's the market for blu-ray players?

Welcome to LaserDisc 2.0.

Oooh... if Blu-Ray or HD-DVD players could handle LaserDiscs that'd be swell... my LD player is on its last legs :(

You couldn't be more wrong.

Sure there's a market for downloaded content but HD DVD of any flavor has such growth potential that even the idiots in Hollywood will stop fighting its deployment.

As far as HD being new, its been around for more than twenty years. It took the US 50 years to transtition from black and white to color.

As far as who will purchase (HD)DVD's the more than 20 million who have purchased HD capable flat panel displays with a continued growth in sale of more than 40%.
