Blu-ray best encoding possibilities with Final Cut/Compressor

I've just got a 2.8 GHz Quad-core Mac Pro and a LG BH10LS30 Blu-ray writer. My source material comes mainly from a HPX 171.

I've been looking in this Forum and other sources in the net to find the best possible encoding settings (with Compressor) to Blu-ray. But I am mainly finding info from 2008. I don't need Menus in my discs, only auto-play and loop.

The best I've found till now is the following settings:

I started by selecting HD DVD: MPEG-2 30 Minutes, then made the following changes:
File Format: MPEG-2
Extension: m2v (had allow job segmenting checked)
Stream Usage: Blu-ray

Mode: 2 pass VBR Best
Av BR: 25
Max BR: 30
Motion: Best

Frame Controls: OFF

But again, this setting I found in a forum from 2008. Is there some improvement since this?

Many thanks in advance!

HD DVD is NOT BluRay...that is HD DVD, the format that LOST to BluRay. You can't burn BluRay from Compressor. You need to have Final Cut Studio 3, and the only way to do it with that package is to use the SHARE option from FCP. OH, and you need a BluRay burner. The internal drive on a Mac doesn't do BluRay.

Hum.. I am not sure if you read my entire post. I've got a LG BH10LS30, so I can burn the discs and the encoding that I found in Compressor is MPEG-2 with the Stream Usage set to Blu-ray.

Anyway, in the process that you suggested (SHARE in FCS 3) is it possible to control the Bit Rate? And also to have a disc with auto-play and loop without Menu?

Thanks.

Yes you can set auto play . There is no way to set the data rate, that is automatic. I have made a number of disks this way and the results are stunning. No issues at all.

I highly recommend Bruce Nazarian's book "Fast Path To Blu Ray On The Mac", if you're going to get into the Blu Ray stuff.

Yes, the data rate is set, but the results are really great.
