Basically I was wondering if anyone knew how to get realistic knife slash streaks onto a wall.

The weapon that will draw the blood is a knife going sideways and kind of upwards in a slashing motion, so I wanted a sort of streak of blood splatting on a wall rather than a wide and dotty gun blast splatter. Any tips on how to do this? Some sort of squirt gun, maybe?

A ketchup bottle with a smaller tip works good. You need a lower velocity than a squirt gun, to make it look good.

Do you know if there's a site where they go in detail on how to get several different blood splatter effects, for future reference?
 
the 2 inch wide foam brushes work good too.
dip em' in the blood and give a good hard swing in the motion the knife would travel.
