Blog Update

Please forgive if this seems like blatant self-promotion, but I just wanted to mention that, following a 29-day dry spell, I have updated my blog... What better time to write something completely unnecessary than when you have a big project deadline looming... Anyway, I have enabled comments from the public so feel free to check in and let me know what you think. I will not take offense to anything. Feel free to say that blows, that's poo-poo, who do you think you are, MsManhattan, you think you're all that? Or whatever... I'll be watching Big Love and The Sopranos since I missed them on Sunday... Enjoy!

Hey, come back, unknown user...

Hey, come back, unknown user...

Hmmmm, someone posted here a while ago -- I don't remember the user name, unfortunately -- that he or she thought the blog layout was hard to follow in terms of organization. Now, it seems, that user has removed the post. Maybe you felt you were too harsh? But, come back to the 5 & dime, jimmie dean, because I agreed with you and appreciated the feedback. You weren't the first person to tell me that, but your comment was the one that finally motivated me to update it. So now it has a new template and is, I think, easier to read and is more clearly organized. So, thanks for the feedback. I wish you hadn't deleted the post. Constructive criticism is one of the best things about this board!

Noticed the other day you hadn't updated your blog in a while. That's ok. It's quality not quantity. Make your readers wait and they'll appreciate you more.

Good update!

Ummm, sorry that was me :embarasse:. I'm trying to be a positive force but some people take that constructive stuff I say negatively. I also delete my unfunny posts (far too many too mention) :)
...recently I've felt like the invisible poster (posting to me'self - no one answers). Anywhoo, I apologize to for the deleting.

Now for your response - I'm glad you took it positively, and I've checked out your new format and I love it  Seriously. It still feels informal, but is easy to navigate and read. I also like how you rate the restaurants. Sometimes you can read a whole review and wonder how the reviewer really felt. I haven't read through the archives , so you probably delve into other stuff too.

The G half of this partnership is back from New York, and she mentioned she would check out John's Original Pizza in Greenwich. We have an informal "lets find the best pizza in the world" contest.

So anyway, nice site. And let me know if you watch/ like any of those reality cooking restaurant shows. I can always use the suggestions. I love the entrepreneurship of those shows (Jamie Oliver works harder than almost anyone I know).

Cheers.

PS - Love your sig, with the name looking like the skyline. Nice touch. And happy belated B-day. I like them cause you can say "hey, it's my birthday!" to almost anything. extra drinks, showing up late, having two deserts etc...

Hey, DandG!

Hey, DandG!

Thanks for the post and the feedback! I was hoping you'd check in and see my note.

John's Pizza is great, but my favorite coal oven pizza joint is Totonno's in Coney Island. Actually, I'm planning a piece on coal oven pizza places in the near future, but since I've done several restaurant reviews in a row, I'm holding off on doing any more for a short while. I have a few other pieces I'm working on instead.

I actually don't watch any of the cooking/restaurant shows, but I did see a couple of episodes of Rocco (was that the title)? That was just painful because he had so many problems... There's a new one on Bravo -- a competition to be a bigtime chef -- by the producers of Project Runway. I haven't seen it, but Project Runway rocks, so it should be good.

Thanks again for coming back and for revisiting the blog, and muchas gracias for the motivation to finally update the template!

The blattant self promotion doesn't bother me so much as the alterNaTinG caPs in yoUr NaMe!!!

After a very busy month...

After a very busy month...

...I've finally updated my blog again with a tribute piece observing the one-year anniversary of the Plaza Hotel's closing. Check it out if you have a chance...

For those of you who didn't know: The Plaza Hotel -- an historic New York landmark -- is being converted into condos...

Isn't everything in NYC now being turned into Condos? It seems like just about every church in my neighborhood is as well.

And I didn't know you were involved in the computer world. That's the stuff I do for the paycheck too! Makin' with the software and such. Small world.
