Bliss Lights

Just saw this on some television show recently and thought it could make for some interesting backgrounds.

Since there is no pricing info on their website, I called to get a price and was immediately hit with 20 Questions. I tried to explain I was just a passing admirer and was curious as to the price, but his determination in acquiring personal info for his database was greater than my desire to continue the call. So, I hung up...

A few minutes later, he called me back and I let my voicemail pick up. The message he left indicated a price range from $1K - $3K depending on the fixture.

Interesting, must be some variation on the disco pattern projectors I've seen a lot of over here in China. The "Call for Price" thing always turns me off. I think he's making a big mistake with that marketing technique.

By the way, one interesting technology I've seen for projecting a pattern into thin air (kind of holographic but really more 2D) is this laser unit that scan projects a pattern onto a wall of humidified air jets. Very cool looking stuff but far from a full hologram though. Looks like a bunch of small colored dots making up a pattern in the air in front of you.

Terry,

I'm almost sure I've seen that same fixture advertised elsewhere and for a lot less money ... but I'll be darned if I can remember where!

I would be quite leery about using this or any other "moonflower," "effects projector" or other gizmo intended for the DJ/disco market for video lighting, however: most of them have extremely limited output (many are housed in plastic, THAT should tell you SOMETHING).
