Blinky's Revenge

Hey guys. I don't usually pimp products, but this is one that definately needed to be pimped!

In the past I've used 'Movie Magic' for all my production scheduling needs, but this time out we were contacted by this start-up online scheduling company called 'Blinky's Revenge' www.blinkysrevenge.com

Well, my AD has finally set everything up in the system and I have to say, it's awesome! I'ts got all kinds of cool stuff, and what's better is it's all accesible online for your crew and cast to jump in at any time and find their call sheets and production info.

It has all the basic fundamental stuff that MM has, and some. Like location weather forcasts, vendor info/foods, crew&cast contacts, several options to tailor your page for needs, like schedules, or any breakdown you can think of.

I sound like an advertisement, so I'll let you decide, go give the site a whirl. They have a kick-ass deal for both features and shorts. If you're in pre-production then get to it. They're super nice as well, which is a plus.

Let them know I sent you (Alveraz from, THE TAILOR), who knows, maybe they'll hook up a deal for you (don't quote me). Better yet, they'll remember that I pimped them out.

Good luck.

Re: Blinky's Revenge

Here's some additional goodies I snaked from the site, enjoy...

Sharing information
People involved in your project can get the information they need when they need it. Each cast or crew member can log on anytime for scene information, location maps, call sheets, schedules, who to talk to at a vendor, whatever. And because they can get what they need, you don't have to.

Collaboration
Let your department heads update instructions for scenes. Let your location manager update location details. Let your production assistants or assistant directors update contact information. Everyone ends up with the most current production information because it's all in one place.

Maps
Don't lose time because someone got lost on the way to a location. Blinky offers your crew quick and easy maps to where they are going. It's automatic so you don't have to do a thing.

Call sheets
A ton of information all funneled onto one magical piece of paper. Blinky pulls all your scenes, notes, call times, special instructions, and a bunch of other elements together and spits it out in Adobe® Acrobat® PDF format. When you push a call time, Blinky adjusts all the times on the call sheet so when you print it out, everything is adjusted.

Vendors
When your PA doesn't know where to pick up that pink plastic stork prop or who to talk to once he gets there, you lose time. Blinky organizes all your vendors…and when you're on to your next project, all that information is ready to use again.

Import data from other software
Import data from Movie Magic® Scheduling®, Movie Magic® Screenwriter®, and Final Draft®. But don't just do it once. Blinky keeps your project website in synch with these other packages so that your script revisions, tagged notes and scheduling adjustments are always current.

Pretty reports & production books
Blinky likes things easy. If you're looking at a page of information, just click the PDF option to download an Adobe® Acrobat® version of whatever it is you are looking at. If you'd like a whole production book, Blinky will assemble a single PDF with your schedule, scenes, locations, contacts, vendors, and even the script you uploaded.

Scheduling & news
Keep your team on the same page from preproduction through post. Set up meetings, rehearsals, tech scouts, production days, whatever you need. It's easy to move your schedule around with just a few clicks. There's also production news so you can keep everyone current whenever they log in to your website.

Nothing to install
Blinky lives on the web, not on your computer. All you need is a current browser. There's no additional software to install, no upgrades to keep track of, none of that stuff. Blinky is always there whether you're in Boise or Budapest.

Whenever the Blinky Team adds a new feature (or fixes a bug), you benefit instantly. Better yet, we love to hear your suggestions and add cool new stuff. Because it's online, any new bells & whistles will show up automatically.

Don't reinvent the wheel
After you've set up a Blinky project, you can import your contacts, vendors, and locations into new Blinky projects you'll create down the line. No retyping or calling around to assemble your key info.

Better yet, other people can give you permission to import from their Blinky projects as well. So if you'll be using the same crew as a friend, import all that info with a few clicks.

Bells & whistles
• Is your shooting location in the New York or Los Angeles studio zone? Blinky knows.
• Automatically computes the distance from your crew members' homes to set.
• In Los Angeles and New York, Blinky checks the garbage pickup days for your location so your sound guy isn't competing with sanitation trucks.
• "Location profiles" automatically assemble astronomic data for each shooting location so you'll know when the sun comes up, when it goes down, how much light will be emitted from the moon, and a bunch of other stuff we think is really neato.
• Blinky knows all about addresses and time zones for international crew, locations & vendors.
• Integrated cellular text messaging.
• Automatically generate IRS Form 1099s and Screen Actors Guild timesheets.
• Blinky tracks your crew's food preferences so you can tell your caterer exactly how many vegetarians will be on set today.
• Call sheets and reports print on letter, legal, A3 and A4 paper sizes.
• Monitor when cast & crew log in to your website and which versions of your script they download.
