Blimp/Zeppelin

To make it simple, there are:

1) Obviously, Rycote
$700

2) Lightwave Superscreen
$800

3) Sennheiser
About $500 (with windjammer, suspension and everything, like the other three)

4) PSC Windboss that I've never heard about untill Pookie mentioned it in some thread.
Only $300.

Rycote seems to be the default choice for... well, everyone. Are the newer (2004+) models much better than the old 2-point suspension systems, that you can find on ebay much cheaper?
Lightwave I actually only found today and it looks to be built like a tank, but for some reason is rare.
Sennheiser from what I've seen is sorta cumbersome, although it's probably no different in that aspect from Rycote.
PSC. Well, the price on this one sure looks good... but the blimp is made out of foam, how well would it perform under heavy wind or even everyday use, transportation etc.?

Does anyone have experience with all of the above? Which would you prefer?

the rycote is modular - what is good and bad :-), good that you can use the same blimp with extension for longer shotgun , bad , you have another joint point to brake , just kidding ,its very good one , but if you don't intend to use 82 or 70 there is no benefit .
for 700 you will get wind sock as well what might be good not to damage the surface , you don't use it when you use fury and it doesn't make any sonically difference when you use it with or with out .
the suspension is good but its not my favor , the k-tek is better and more simple ( you need special adapter to make it work with the zeppelin.
the only benefit you get with rycote is a boom holder which can accept xlr holder , the k-tek is not , you need 3rd party , quit expensive .
the zeppelin is working very well in high wind situations.

the lightwave - this product is not exist any more after rycote bought lightwave few years ago .
sonically and wind resistance characteristics are making it best zeppelin i worked with , the down sides - the suspension and very frangible plastics which holds the both size of zeppelin.
say amen on lightwave :-)

the sennheiser - the suspension and zeppelin are good as rycote , might be even more durable in long term use , its a little bit heavy - the overall price would be more then 650 for new incl fur , since sennheiser didn't made short windshields , this one didn't became popular as rycote , but its good as . you also can use k-tek suspension with special adapter for this windshield

the wind boss- sorry never worked with

Ah, see, what you basically said is "they're all good" :) and in the end I'm left with the same problem of choice. Thanks, nonetheless.

But, what if there was a used Lightwave unit for sale? Would that make it a winner or would it be better to get Rycote/Senn with K-GPS suspension? Cuz there is one right now at trewaudio.com that happens to fit my MKH416 for $425.

start with 250:-)

Lightwave no longer makes anything. You can't get it

Just so you know. I was talking with Manfred Klemme (The "K" in KTek) the other day, and he told me they are now officially manufacturing zeppelins to work with their shock mounts. I don't know what cost is going to be, but he told me that an entire KTek setup would probably be cheaper than an entire rycote setup. I'm pretty sure they will be offering a windjammer as well. So...I'd hold out to see check out their new package. It should be out soon. Rent something in the meantime if you can to hold you over.

That's what I've been doing - renting that is. Just thought it would be more convenient to have my own setup and the Miniscreen, that I have, doesn't really cut it when the weather outside is like it is atm. Thanks, guys.
