Blake Snyder's Save The Cat Seminar

Blake's giving a seminar in NYC in August. I've read both his books and found them well-written and valuable. I'm on the fence about the seminar... mainly because it's two full summer days.

Anyone on the board previously attended an STC weekend? Care to offer opinions / color on your experience:

- time commitment vs. information value
- anything new for people who've read and put the books to use
- networking opportunities (i.e. meeting other writers, etc.)
- other?

I appreciate any feedback.

Will you learn something new that the book doesn't cover? probably not, but it will help drive home points and help focus your mind and energy. Only you can decide what is best to do with your time & money.

For myself, I enjoyed Blake's insights and energy. He is definately a turbo charged guy about storytelling, .... and he's really smart and open.

i did his weekend class a couple years ago and enjoyed it. it's more workshop than lecture, so it's not like he's just telling you what his book is telling you. people pitch their ideas to everyone, you get feedback, then you work out the main beats over the weekend and pitch it again. there were maybe a dozen people in my seminar. we all got lunch together, and one guy wanted to start a writers group with the other guys. i couldn't make it because of scheduling issues, but they all seemed like good dedicated people.

i would recommend having some ideas worked out before you show up.
