Blake Snyder died yesterday (8/4/09)

[Nektonic]

I'm shocked. Blake Snyder, author of the awesome screenwriting book Save the Cat died yesterday morning of cardiac arrest.

Very sad news for all screenwriters and filmmakers.

[Luis Caffesse]

Woah.
He was only 52.

What a shame.

Those who can't teach...
I'm sorry, but Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot ??

WTF?

Rip <---- (seriously... I'm not allowed to capitalize three letters in a row?)

[Duke M.]

He just gave a couple classes at seminars in Glendale, etc. last month.

I must say that the language in Save the Cat was easier to get through than Syd Field's book. I consider Save the Cat one of those books that everyone should read at least once.

[Robert Eldon]

This is really sad and unexpected. His books provide a unique perspective on screenwriting. I heard that he had another book in progress.

Very sad.

I agree. Not to say that Syd Field's book isn't great too, but I don't think that any other book on writing demystified screen story structure for me than Snyder's Save the Cat.

That's too bad. If he had another book in the works, I'm sure screenwriters and filmmakers all over the world would have benefited greatly from it.

[Big Bad]

I just got an email from Blake last week. This is really shocking.
