Blade Trinity

So I checked it out this afternoon.

I'm a big fan, having thoroughly enjoyed the first two, the 2nd being one of the cooler more innovative films I've viewed in years. I was pretty pumped for this one...

I'd have to say I was let down. It seemed very sloppy. I actually felt like I was watching a first time directors film(which I was). Goyer is suppose to be the king of story structure, but this felt as if it was all over the place. Also at some points, mostly on spfx sequences, it was really choppy and didn't cut together.

The best part of the film was Ryan Reynolds and his sarcastic sense of humor. Other than that it was an anticlimactic end to the Blade franchise.(In my opinion)

Any one else see it... thoughts?

Re: Blade Trinity

You just bummed me out  :'( I was pumped on this one  :-/

Bad or just not as good as hoped?

Re: Blade Trinity

I haven't seen any of the blade movies, not sure why, I guess I'm not really into them.

Re: Blade Trinity

Wow Stabb, I really trust your opinion...I'm not sure if I want to see this now...:(

I too liked the second one, The Reapers were a nice change up...

hmm...Thanks for the heads up...

Re: Blade Trinity

Blade is definitely a guilty pleasure. If it's as bad as you say I'll just have to wait for DVD.

Re: Blade Trinity

(check this mini-article from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Online)

"--Blade: Trinity, which opens tonight, is getting killed by critics as bad as a HHH vs. Scott Steiner 20:00 long match. Almost all the reviews don't even mention HHH. HHH was mentioned in the Evansville Courier & Press, which gave such great quotes about the movie as "avoid at all costs" and "poor" but did say HHH upstaged the other actors and was much better than anything Dwayne Johnson(The Rock) has ever done. Well, that quote will be on the Levesque family wall next to the life sized poster of Frank Zane and Chris Dickerson. Things are even worse because Wesley Snipes won't be doing anything to promote the movie and apparently wants nothing to do with the movie, and didn't even show up for its red carpet premiere. (thanks to Keith Lipinski, Neil Israel, Jim Lemond and many others)"

Wow. Wesley wants nothing more to with the franchise. Since I havent seen it yet, how bad does it show(for those who have seen it)? I wonder if other news media outlets are talking about Wes and the heat he has with this movie.

Re: Blade Trinity

Alright...I went to see it, just got back...

The 2 key words here are Anti-climactic and mediocre...

This movie is just another Blade movie, So if you like Blade you'll like it, if you're looking for a good ending to a trilogy it's not here...

I liked it, but it had it's weak points...

Re: Blade Trinity

I actually liked this one. The only thing I hated about it is the dude who palyed dracula. He just didn't fit the role, he looked more like a gay stripper. And dosen't the dracula transformation kinda looks like predator's cousin. Regardless of what people think this was a fun movie to watch. Oh and jessica biel was mmmmm good. Dam, should of never broken up with her.

Re: Blade Trinity

I just saw it and thought it wasn't as good as the others in the series.

P.S. All these posts and I can't believe no one mentioned seeing the DVX100 in the scene where they set blade up. She was filming him with one. The DVX spotting was the best part of the movie for me.

I was just coming on to post that there was a DVX in the beginning!

Re: Blade Trinity

The second blade film just edges out Starship Troopers for my favorite dumb action movie of all time, and I saw Starship Troopers when I was really drunk and Blade II when I was sober so that says something.

I'm seeing this, but I'm not expecting much. It's too bad, since I really anticipated this one and I like David Goyer's scripts usually. His style of writing is so full of life (and so outrageously funny and over the top) that I assumed his direction would have the same vitality, but now I'm not so sure what to expect....

Re: Blade Trinity

I was going to mention the dvx on wednesday, But I wasnt' completely sure it was. ??? I was suprised actually, I was in LA last week and in a meeting people are still like lets shoot on the canon , mostly non tech higher up's. Panny still hasn't really secured a stong rep among those kind of people. That's why I suprised to see it in Blade and not the gl2.

Re: Blade Trinity

I like vampire flicks so I went to see this anyway - expecting very little. Not as bad as I was expecting. Not great either - Agree with most above posts.

Not sure on the director. Looks like he came to work everyday and tried to slam as much coolness style **** into it as he could. Overkill. Put away the "101 super cool awesome flashy slick styles and techniques to make your movie really neat handbook by McG" The crew must have had their hands full with this guy. ::)

Ryan Reynolds was the best part of the movie. Big fan of his sarcastic sense of humor. Glad to see Van Wilder got a job after college. ;)

Like others have said - Big fan of Blade try it out. Not a huge fan, rent it.

all right i just watched the DVD and i liked it...well for one it was nice seeing francoise yip...can she get a bigger role? and this is odd, but the fight scene between triple H and ryan looked "fake"...maybe they were trying to avoid making him look like triple H...you know avoid the whole wrestling thing...but i know he can pound somebody...then again who'd want to get accidentally hit by triple H :)

my only problem with dracula was as soon as i saw him i went "hey that's john doe" anybody else catch that show?
