Blackmagic Studio Camera review: Part 1 & 2

Hi guys,

As promised earlier, I am posting our quick and brief review on the Studio Camera (1 unit only). Please be aware that we do not have all the complete Studio System from Blackmagic or multiple Studio Cameras to test all the camera functions.

Part 2 will be posted here soon for those who love the footage comparison (we are comparing it with the Pocket Camera).

Do let me know if you have any questions and I will try my best to answer it. A more complete testing will be done once we can complete the Multiple Camera Production system later.

Part 2: Footage comparison (I can upload for source video of the Studio Camera if anyone required it ok)

Thats the only way to record video from this camera. It is just a camera head with no recording unit. Designed for live video production.

Yes, that is the way we produced the Footage in Part 2. We recorded the footage through Hyperdeck Shuttle 2. Unfortunately the Hyperdeck Shuttle does not accept 3G-SDI. So we have to use a converter before sending the output of the Studio Camera to Shuttle 2.

Any external recorder with 3G-SDI capability would be the best option to record its footage.
