Blackmagic Intensity Pro capture card

I have done some test captures with both, (Intensity Pro capture from Canon HV20 camera used as a deck via HDMI) with no issues what so ever with either format.

I prefer DVCPRO HD as the file sizes are a bit smaller, but FCP handled both smoothly on the timeline on a MAC PRO 2.66 Quad Raid 0 setup.

Nice. I'm looking at this card as well - is the difference between the regular version & pro worth it? I found some regular versions for super cheap on ebay but if the pro is definitely worth the extra $$ then I'll find a way to get it.

If you only need HDMI I/O then you don't need the Pro. But if you want/need analog I/O then you should get the Pro. For example, in your case I'm not sure how you'd hook up an SD monitor if you only had HDMI I/O.

I have the card as well, the picture quality is excellent but I can only using the "Capture Now" button in the Log and Capture window.

I would like to capture image and audio through HDMI with machine control [and timecode] through firewire but every time I try this FCP says it can't initialize the FW device.

"A", are you able to capture using machine control or are you using Capture Now?
