Agreed 100%. And when you're no longer privately owned, your investors expect a return on investment. To me this signals higher priced cameras, DaVinci Resolve going subscription based and so much more. Finally starting to really feel like Resolve is on par with Adobe as an editing software and they go this route? Horrible move.....I might as well migrate to FCPX in the near future.

I hope you are wrong. If Resolve goes to subscription (good chance you are right), that will eliminate it for me. Same thing, I'll stop using Resolve and will only be back in FCP X. I use both now and really, really love both programs. They both have their advantages and I use them for different projects and deadlines.
BM RAW integration in Resolve is kick ass just like ProRes RAW in FCP X is so seamless.

Yeah I totally agree. But there is another take to consider. Supposedly, by driving towards greatest profits, the companies are discovering the greatest demand and filling it. (I've heard so many people rave about all the superhero movies coming out. Which pisses me off to no end because they've sucked all of the oxygen out of the room for mid-level productions. But the reason they make so much money is because so many people like them.)

Exactly, the current studio market has all but eiminated mid-range comedy and dramas. They've eliminated movies for adults and most fare is for kids who see this comic book/superhero drivel multiple times. Under the current system,
we'll never again see studio films like The Truman Show, Jojo Rabbit, Hugo, The Artist, As Good As It Gets, etc. They don't make enough money and don't appeal to anyone under 30 generally so they don't get made anymore, other than an occasional one slips through.
It's generally tentpole, big budget reboots, that's 90% of the output.

Cinema and filmmaking has been replaced by assembly line comic book/superhero crap, I agree with Scorsese. Some very well made and cinematic comic book/superheo crap
but stepping back, as an adult, do you really want to only see movies about fake characters, in fake universes, doing fake things? How about some films about human characters,
interacting the real cinematic world, rather than CGI characters interacting with green screen actors? Stepping off of my soapbox.

People generally have terrible taste in mass entertainment, all you have to do is look at what is most popular. Is it objectively good? Will the most popular music of today be relevant
two years from now, much less two decades? Will your great grandkids consider the Marvel Universe as "classic" after we are all dead and gone? Who knows but chances are low. There
are so many amazing musicians, groups, artists, filmmakers, storytellers out there who struggle to even survive and they have 10x the talent of most of what is the most successful. That's
one thing I love YouTube for, I am constantly stumbling across amazing talent who few have ever heard of in music and film/video making. It's humbling as a filmmaker to see how much
sheer talent is out there, but they aren't the names that are selling on streaming and in theaters.

Ahh, wait up.

It hasn’t happened yet. Even if it does it will take a year. These speculative posts about BMD listing come out every year or so. Check back on the history on AFR.

And even if it does, BMD’s MO is to be anti subscription. I doubt that thinking would change quickly. So give that another 3 years on top of that AND you’d probably have to get rid of Petty, and at that point, it’s a totally different company anyway. So it’s got at least 4-5 years of being steady as she goes before a total worst case scenario.
