BMD Is giving Atomos a run for their money with the new HDMI / HD-SDI Micro converters. The Atomos Connect are great b/c they have a battery installed & can use a Sony L series type battery & can even pass battery power through the converter. These BMD converters are powered via USB, so you can use any $10-$40+ USB power stick to power them, and they're $85 vs $195 for Atomos.

(I'd love to see some side by side photos.)

So BMD is doing some CCU stuff (remote camera control) on a bunch of their cameras, but it's via SDI, so it's unique to BMD. But they're opening it up so if you want to build your own controller, you can do so through their Arduino (kind of like Raspberry Pi) Shield.

Even though I'm 99% sure I'm not going to be buying this, it was really cool to listen about what it is and what you can do with it.
