Blackmagic Design Fusion 8 out of beta!

Wow, Fusion 8 was announced nearly a year go. I had expected BMD to announce Resolve 13 (or will it be Resolve 14 or Resolve 2016 to avoid unlucky number 13?) and Fusion 9 at NAB this year.

Perhaps they will. Fusion 8 was available as beta for a long time but I wanted to wait until it was an official release before downloading.

For anybody that was crushed when Apple violently murdered Shake, Fusion so far seems like a very solid alternative. It is very similar to Shake and having used shake for many years I feel right at home. I haven't watched or read a single tutorial on how to use it and just using my prior knowledge of Shake and flying through this thing.

My only complaint so far is that the free version locked features use an annoying popup to indicate they are not available in the free version. This gets old very fast since there is no indication if the feature will do that. There are so many things to do I can't possible remember all of the ones that are not included in the free version. I wish BMD would just gray out those options or have them do nothing instead of forcing me to close a popup every time. I'm sure I will get used to which feature to avoid eventually but its still exceptionally annoying.

As a VFX artist I will likely be buying the full version of this which at $995 is a steal for what it is. I remember when Shake was $10,000.00 when it was still a Nothing Real product.
