Blackmagic Design adds Avid DNxHD Recording and Playback to HyperDeck Studio

For the recorder, yes. But for the SSDs, they cost an arm and a leg, which bloats the price back up significantly for uncompressed recording.
Why they didn't add support for laptop HDs like the Ninja is beyond me. Had that happened, I'd have been all over this baby.

Um, that's the point of the announcement - now they support DNxHD as well, which is a compressed format with high quality and easy editing workflow.

Oh...well durfa'durr on my part. HAHAHA
That'd be good for me since I transcode all of my DSLR footage to DNxHD anyway. Um...well uh--- no excuse not to buy it now!!! *runs to ebay for SSDs*

Hi Bruce,

Does the HyperDeck Shuttle save the video files as uncompressed footage or can I choose a specific codec like DNxHD? Thanks!

Simon

Yup, looks like you can use one or the other. Which if you ask me, helps a lot. Now I'm pricing which 120GB SSDs to pick up :-D
