"Ignoring the 5K on the Scarlet (because at 1-12 fps its not really useable), the question is, is another 1.5 stops of DR and 60fps (in 1080p) worth an extra $11,495? and you'll lose the global shutter...." -markmwilliams

A very good point, I think the BMCC 4K Camera is the clear winner for the price and what it offers. :)

Well you gotta put price of RED gear in a different set of mind. With a scarlet, you have to have everything that is made from RED for a scarlet work with the EPIC. Brains are interchangeable with accessories. So you have to share the cost of a higher end camera. That's just how it works. For bmcc, it was designed for being the middle ground from DSLR and high end cameras like RED, ARRI. Which is why it's so price competitive towards the lowered end market. In terms of use, I would give the scarlet the win over bmcc. But that's my opinion based on using both cameras. In terms of global shutter, it's a draw as RED motion mount will be coming out with dragon very soon. Which may be expensive but gives owners the option for both.
