Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

In any case, it is nice to see a product that everyone likes - so many of these new camera threads descend into bitching that a company didn't make a product especially suited for "my needs".

Someone has finally made a camera that is liked, if not necessarily needed, by most of us.

Besides the Super16 sensor, tha fact that it is - again - Apple and Canon centered is a bit sobering.
To use the included Ultrascopes software you need a Thunderbolt laptop (aka MAC). The SSDs need to be MAC formated, which is a pain in the butt, if you are on a PC - meh.

And I wish they had also a Nikon mount, so I can finally dump all those adapters.

Intel is really pushing Thunderbolt in the PC channels now, so it's not long before we start seeing similarly equipped PC notebooks. There is a lot of internet hubbub about April being the month we start to see this port on PCs.

It seems BMD do support Nikon mount, as ZF is actually the model designation for the Zeiss Nikon range of lenses and it's mentioned quite clearly on the BMD site. Ultimately, one hopes it's corrected to simply F mount.

Either way, I'm with you on both counts being the last issue(s) to adoption of this camera in a wide-spread fashion. It looks very much like a good solution for a number of small-shop workflow issues solved all in one place.

Maybe it's EF mounted initially, but the flange distance is enough to mount anything. That's still completely possible because the camera is mirrorless.

Jeeeez, I guess the value of my FS100 just dropped an other 1000 bucks in the last 10 minutes.

Looks terrific. Everyone has already raved about the plus factors. The only downsize I see - after all the bitching about Super35 senors being a must for DOF, this is smaller than the AF100 (which was constantly being bashed by the Sony and Canon fans as being too small), and the consumer audio inputs.

(oh, and I LOVE the 13 stops of DR, 12 bit RAW, and 2.5K resolution; no way you're going to compare this to an AF100...)

These are the specs that are important to me. I was looking at the FS100 and the AF100, but BM Design now have my money!

I'm still floored...lol. Not sure this is going to wear off anytime soon. I'm already researching lenses and trying to figure out how to put this thing to use this summer.

But if you think about it this doesn't really hurt FS700 THAT much.

I don't think that was the idea. The idea was to steal all the 5DMKII and other DSLR people. They didn't design it the way they did on accident. :P That thing looks small enough to be put on almost all the DSLR rigging gear I see out there.
