Other: BlackMagic Cinema camera!!!! 2.5k for 3k...

I think these will be built into rigs with another power pack attached. Should be easy, I have made a pack for my hyperdeck shuttle and Marshall monitor from a double Sony cam battery pack that has a 4 pin xlr power lead, works all day on a single charge.

But seriously. Just did a quick estimate of pixel pitch. 15.6mm/2432 pixels = 6.4 microns. Not bad. By current standards that a pretty big pixel bucket. Sensitvity and S/N should be excellent and doesn't require awesome lp/mm lenses to get a decently sharp picture.

Got my preorder in with Markertec this morning. They should have their site updated.

also, street price seems to be 2845 =]

Overall, WOW.

My mine issue/concern. I really do not understand the internal battery. Why? It seems so limited. Couldn't they find and standard battery (even from Sony or Canon) to power the camera? Only 90 minutes of record time, I guess I will have to get 2 to cover a wedding. :)

It has a power port for external power sources / battery packs.

I thought I saw someone mention the idea of using 18- or 24-volt lithium power-tool batteries with, of course, some kind of adapter. Would something like that even be possible, and if so, would, say, a cordless-drill battery drain in just a few minutes?

I want to see RAW footage so bad. I want to know how it stacks up to a hacked GH2. If it even gets close then I'm sold, but I want to see some nice RAW grabs or something.

My two biggest concerns are the rolling shutter and lens options. Other then that it's brilliant (if it works as advertised)

The rolling shutter is what it is. But as long as you aren't shooting an action sequence that looks like you are sitting in a paint mixer you can probably work around it...

Lenses is a whole different issue, given the oddball sensor size.

It's slightly bigger than S16, so that eliminates those lenses.

M43 is bigger and would cover it, but the BMD / EF mount has the wrong FFD, so that won't work.

No PL mount.

I looked around and there are some ultrawide angle options in EF mount, but the fastest ones I could find are f2.8.
My benchmark is S35 (film). My set of S35 primes runs from 20-100mm. Given a crop factor of roughly 2.15 (?) I would need something in the range of 8-14mm to replace my wides.

Obviously none of these are cinema lenses. So, no aperture dials and pulling focus is a non-linear afair. At f2.8 they are also relatively slow, and given the size of the sensor it could get difficult to mimic the DOF of something shot on S35.

Tonika 2.8/11-16mm

Canon f3.5-4.5 / 10-22
Canon f4 / 8-15L
Canon f2.8 / 16-35L
Canon f4 / 17-40

Using a Nikon-F adapter gets you a few more options:

Nikon f3.5-4.5G / 10-24
Nikon f2.8 / 10.5 fisheye
Nikon f4 / 12-24
Nikon f2.8 / 12-24
Nikon f2.8 / 14mm

Samyang also makes a few options:
f3.5 / 8mm fisheye
f2.8 / 14mm

Shouldn't it be much better than a hacked GH2 in just about every way -- resolution, dynamic range, lack of banding, etc.? Even DOF control should be comparable.

It is. To me it looks like gh2 hack x 4. Minus aliasing.

My ONLY two complaints are:

1. Sensor Size (Wish it was APS-C big).

2. Lack of high framerates. I would take 60p at 1080p. This is a pretty big deal in my opinion.

Otherwise this camera is sounding like it is AMAZING. These guys have really stepped into an area where Canon, Panasonic, and Sony weren't planning on going for years to come. I may not be an early adopter of this camera but I may buy it eventually or maybe the big three will be forced to make something that competes.

Exciting times guys!
