Blacklisted URL At Work

As I'm sure quite a few people do, you're at work. Get bored. Or done something so you decide to go on MSN, check your emails, go on youtube or whatever you do.

Well that's what I been trying to do but I can't. Anybody know of any things where you can bypass the filter? I'm trying to go on You Tube right now. I've tried the following:

http://proxy88.com
http://www.pleaseunblock.com

But now those are blocked to. Quite a pain, anyone know of any others?

Oh, you have experienced my pain - My school does the same thing, There are alot of Web baised proxys, but they dont always work, if you have access to the options in your internet browsers, use an ip proxy from the list here.

For FireFox users go to (Tools > Options > General > Connection Settings) and select "Manual Proxy Configuration", and enter in an IP and Port from our list into the text boxes.

For Internet Explorer users go to (Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan), select "use proxy server" and enter in an IP and Port from our list.

Have fun!

isn't that dangerous thought? These third party proxy providers can easily record any data that goes through their servers such as your password.

It really sucks. What I don't get is that you work in media, and that you can't view YouTube or Google Videos. Simple things can be blocked to, just because they have the letter "p" in it for example.

Max, Sadly no access to Internet Otions, there mega sneaky. >_<

yeah especially when they have such professional sounding URL's like "hidemyass.com". Theres no reason NOT to trust them.

I couldn't get to the Newark airport web page because Newark is in Essex County.

No, I'm not kidding.

At least you can still get on dvxuser though

I'd quit if the radio station took away my internet access in the am studio.

What I love best is when companies whose business actually DEPENDS on people going on the Net during the course of the whole day, and even have measurable proof that one of the peak times for them to do business is during and immediately after lunch hour, forbid their own employees to do basic operations online (like banking, book a flight - I am not even talking porn).

I just can't figure it out.

A secure solution would be to set up a pipe between your workstation at work and a computer at home and use a remote session on your home computer. Evertything from your workstation to home would be on an encrypted pipe. This could be dog slow though.

I'm a programmer for them.

They block sites where you can download free code snippets and components.

They also block port 119, so I can't even go to newsgroups...not even the ones for which they've paid for support on some of the products we use.

Hell, they even block Macromedia because it has free software on it so we can't even download the products we bought.

All in the name of security.

Job security is more like it...for the weenies up the chain who decide these things after reading a magazine article somewhere.

Let's not even talk about them changing the password rules...like it now has to be 15 characters, be nonsense, changed every 60 days, you can't reuse old ones, and it has to different on every system you log on to.

And don't write the passwords down, of course.

Yeah. Right.

Ki-Ki,

you could try ctunnel.com. If that gets blocked, there are plenty of others...dtunnel.com, btunnel.com, backfox.com, and you can google for several more.
