Black & White

Hello. First let me thank every member for creating a wonderful community...this board is AMAZING!

I just purchased a DVX 100A and like the rest of you quickly discovered that the manual left out...pretty much everything...

Can you shoot Black & White in camera? If so what is the benefit vs. desaturating in post (Final Cut Pro 4)?

Thank you in advance.

I would desat in FCP, that way you can also work with the gammas and contrast to get a more crisp black and white image. Remember, you can always get rid of color, but you cannot get it back once shot.

Re: Black & White

It's not a problem at all though, get a black and white monitor on set, and you'll see what you'll get in the end. It'll be the exact same as if you *had* shot in B/W, only it'll take a bit to render...so it doesn't really make a difference.
