BLACK & WHITE IMAGES & RED

I am doing a project for the tribeca film festival this year and i have a question. I just purchased a Mac G5 with final cut pro HD. I just shot some footage of a man walking in times square, in color. I want the image to be black & white with heavy contrast, and i know 3-way color correction is the best way to go. But my question is this, I want certain images to be in red. In other words, i want the whole film to be black & white and certain images in red. Like in "Schindler's List",when the little girl appears in a red dress and everything else is black and white. Does any one know how to achieve this effect in FCP HD?

If you want to keep a specific color you could try using the selective color control in the 3-way. Click lower left arrow in 3-way to adjust specifc ranges in your clip.

More than likely you'll have to rotoscope though, just like they did on shindlers list. This is when you trace or create a animated spline around the area you want to change. FCP has an 8 point garbage matte but it's useless except for the simplest possible matting. You'll likely need Commotion or After Effects to deal with rotoscoping.
