Conclusion & Credits

This sale is what finally got me to just buy it. I'm a no-budget filmmaker and kind of wish I had done this two years ago when I first saw it.

I considered myself an intermediate to maybe even advanced intermediate cinematographer, so I balked at buying it since I wondered how much a "for the masses" program could teach me. But $60 for the package sounded good. Happy that I pulled the trigger cuz now I know I'm more like a beginner intermediate, lol. I didn't learn a whole lot about specific formulas for this scene breakdown or that scene breakdown like I was hoping (I could already break down most of the lighting schemes I saw), but I was surprised by how much I did learn in areas I didn't think I needed to know, like the second DVD on equipment types and descriptions. And Barry and David's to-the-point non-esoteric explanations and breakdowns are a breath of fresh air in this field. They're also able to make technical stuff not boring.

And maybe this is a perfect analogy for filmmaking in general, but the audio DVD is turning out to be something that might be the true gem in all this, lol. I haven't finished it and wanted to post this early review since the sale ends soon. (*edit* Finished it and yep, it was great. Loved the "here are all the mistakes you've probably been making" format. Cuz I've apparently been making 80% of them. It also went into good details that clarified a lot).

If you're at the level where you're on the edge and wondering if you have anything to learn from this, there probably is. I don't regret purchasing it, and I spent like half an hour googling up reviews and stuff before pulling the trigger. If you're a first or maybe even second year cinematographer, just stop thinking and get it. It's like an insane cheat code that skips you to level three right off the bat.

Note: you'll never read Barry Green's forum posts the same way again after watching his personality on screen, lol. Thanx for putting this out there and for the Black Friday sale, Barry & David. It's turning out to be the best deal I've gotten this weekend.

OK, guys -- you've got the preview reels above, you've got the full contents lists, you've got testimonials, and you've even got an impromptu review!

What you DON'T have is much time -- this deal ends TODAY. I'm not sure exactly what time it will end, but it'll end sometime within the next 12 hours. Could be noon, could be 10 pm, could be halftime of the OSU/Michigan game, not sure yet. So, don't sit on the fence if you want it -- now's the time!
