BLACK FRIDAY... Anyone Planning on Gear-hunting?

I was wondering if anyone else was planning on hunting for stuff useful for indie film production during the Black Friday shop-till-you-die blow-out extravaganza. Among the deals I heard about is a 32" HDTV at Best Buy for $450 and an HP 'core-solo' labtop for $350 or something like that.

I am personally planning on getting several 1000w hallogen tripod lights for $19.99 each (INCLUDING BULBS).

By the way, here is one trick:

STEP 1: Find in the ads that amazing deal that you want and identify the store (for example Cirquit City).

STEP 2:Then on friday, with the ad in hand, calmly go to the opposite store (e.g. Best Buy) just shortly after they open and walk by/ignore the line and let the people fight over whatever deal they are there for... while you pick up that great piece of gear that is on special at the first store... and then ask them to price-match it. They will. I have always done this and never stood in line.

That's sounds like a nice plan
What if the store doesn't have the same model as the other store ?

You call ahead on thursday to find out. But with today's highly streamlined distribution systems, most stores carry the same brands.

Sweet!

I just read my post and I realized that it sounds like i'm patronizing you but i'm not. I really did think it was a nice plan and I'm gonna try it. Thanks

That's genious.

You can do an internet search for "black friday" and see what ads have leaked out so far. Traditionally they are kept under tight security and unleashed the day before (during thanksgiving) so you don't have time to reasonably think out what you actually want to buy. But thanks to the leaks you can plan ahead. By the way, the lines are expected to be way longer than for the PS3... I guess there are more cheap people than gamers ;-)
