Anyone know of a good bitrate calculator that gives you an indication of what file size you should be aiming for when compressing high quality video?

http://dvd-hq.info/bitrate_calculator.php has a good Disc based bitrate calculator, however it just tells you the maximum size for fitting data onto a disc. It is not for internet exports.

With internet exports, you just need to see how low you can go and still retain enough quality for the average consumer to accept. Export 30 seconds of the highest motion scene you have in your video and see how low you can go on the bitrate and still have an acceptable picture.

cheers thanks for that. I have been experimenting with differing file sizes, quality and resolution. With my current stream provider I can upload a low bit rate file size and a higher bitrate file size of the same video and the streaming server tests each computers internet speed before deciding which video stream to play. As long as the buffer time is not too long that could be a safe option for high quality video via streaming
