BIO spot effect- Text zoom through.

Hey guys,

I saw this spot and loved the text zoom throughs.

I've been trying to recreate this effect but haven't had great results.

It looks simple but....hard to do smooth...

Any ideas?

animate scale and tweak in the graph editor. that's what I would do.

Yeah, that's what I did. I parrented the text layers together and then animated the scale to push through....

With the way that blurs I would say they used 2 3d cameras in AE. One that's parented to the main viewpoint and another parented to the letter that zoom to give it that clean look.

3D cameras that push through letters look better than scaled letters. Go frame by frame, it'll show you what you need to accomplish

That's a very interesting effect, once you examine it closely. The letters don't blur proportionally. Look at this sequence of 6 frames. The top and right edges of the "b" don't blur until right at the end, while the rest of the "b" blurs quite dramatically.

That makes me think it was done using 3D camera and a push along the Z axis. If the top portion doesn't move very much up or down in relation to the camera, there wouldn't be any real blur.

I would go the route of 3D layers and a camera for sure.
