Binding/stickiness issues with tripod and rig. Best solution?

Hey All,

I'm having some issues with binding and sticking of some of my gear.

Firstly, the QR plate on my tripod binds and will not smoothly slide off the head when any amount of weight is added. It seems okay otherwise but the extra pounds, though within the capacity of the head, cause the thing to stick.

And then there's the shoulder rig. Brand new LanParte gear with a powder coated finish. Some of the pieces, like the shoulder pad riser clamp, get stuck and bind up rather than slide on/off smoothly. Kinda sucks having to struggle with all these various pieces.

I'm wondering if there's some kind of lubrication that anybody could recommend to deal with this problem. I don't know if an oil based product is best or maybe a graphite powder or some other alternative would be best.

What would you all use?

Thanks for any assistance.

Hey mate;

Where did you get your LanParte rig from?
The Height Raiser is a clamp which can be easily bent in shipping if everything isn't packed properly and/or inspected prior to being sent out.

If the rods have been replaced (I know of at least one seller who replaces the LanParte rods with cheaper ones) they may not be made with the same high tolerances as the rest of the gear.

I wouldn't recommend a lubricant as all you'll end up doing it taking off the powder coating; get in touch with your dealer and ask for a replacement/refund of the mount which is giving you issues as there absolutely should not be any binding/sticking.

If they're not helping out send me a PM and I'll make sure you're looked after.

Not too sure what to say about the QR plate but, again, equipment shouldn't need to be lubed in order to do its job; this points to a manufacturing defect or a damaged item.
