HI

I want to shoot an interview with only upper body in frame. I want to place a white backdrop behind the subject and light it with a 500 LED light on one side and a 126 led on other side. I want to build a big 12 bulb ring light and place it in front of the subject as seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmvNuop0hzg

I know this setup wasn't used for the apple commercials but I want to get some opinions from you guys before I start building the ring light and if it would be better to use 2 soft boxes in front of subject instead of the ring. For bulbs ill be using daylight CLFs to match the daylight balanced LCDs in the backdrop lights.

thanks

im on a low budget.

Hi Lucas. Would you mind explaining the reasons behind your stated choices please? Knowing what you are looking for will guide any reactions or suggestions from others.

Depending on how close the subject will be to the camera and what lens you'll be using, you might just want to go with an inexpensive fluorescent Diva Ring light instead of building one. You can see the results in these http://wistia.com/buzz Wistia videos. Also, remember to underexpose the subject and overexpose the background. That way in post you can blow out the highlights and let the background go pure white. Another great video to check out
