anyways, would apreciate if anyone can jot down whetever they know and camrea type if possible.

yeah it would super nice to see flicks of dvx. :engel017:

Look at anything from InDigEnt; everything they've made was shot on miniDV, usually either PD150 or DVX. "Personal Velocity" and "November" are two that won the Cinematography award at Sundance.

Also, there's "Supersize Me" and "Spellbound".

"Twin Falls Idaho" wasn't miniDV; it was either 35mm or HDCAM, don't remember which. Stunning cinematography by David Mullen, but *not* miniDV.

Time Code wasn't technically miniDV, it was shot on four $20,000 DSR500 rigs on Steadicams simultaneously. I mean, yes you could call it DV because it was bitstream compatible, but they didn't shoot it for the purposes of it being DV (unlike "The Celebration", the first bigscreen miniDV Dogme95 release).

Also there's "The Last Broadcast", I think there was some miniDV in that.

"Blair Witch" doesn't count; it had video footage but it was Hi8, not miniDV, and you're asking about DV, right?

Oh, don't forget Jarred Land's camp slaughter movie, whatever that's called... that was shot on a DVX. Not necessarily a "big release" but it's in some blockbuster stores.

thanks guys.., and Barry, thanks for that huge tip! indignet.., wow, so far i've seen Tape and Pieces of April had no idea the latter was DV!

and if its at blockbuster thats big inough for me.

also that blair witch is nothing but a scam imo, i'll rather watch funniest home vids

please keep em coming guys, thanks again. :)

I'm not sure if these are MiniDV but they are DV.

Bright Future
Last Life in the Universe (AKA Ruang Rak Noi Nid Mahasan)
Visitor Q (AKA Bizita Q)
Noi Albinoi (AKA Noi the Albino) (i'm not sure of this one, But it looks like parts, if not the whole movie, were shot in DV)
Hellevator (AKA Gusha no Bindsu Me)
November
Tadpole (I think...Not quite sure though...Can't remember)

Oh and 6ixtynin9 was also shot on DV. Remake rights were sold to Hollywood....Better watch it before it gets crapped up....It's a great dark comedy.

I just saw a documentary called Mad Hot Ballroom that's still playing in the theatres. I'm pretty sure it was shot on a couple of DVX100's. Not sure but it certainly looks like it. Can anyone confirm this?

I can, they shot with 3 DVXs throught all of production. They like the dvx cause it was small and would not disturb the kids reactions. The director came into my school to talk about the production, and she was way cool to talk to, and she knew her stuff.

Yes, that was a good one... very elaborate. It actually looked pretty good as well.

I can't say I've seen many movies from that part of the world.

This wasn't a big release but Manito was filmed on an XL2 and with no dat recorder. I believe they used a shotgun mic attached to the camera. The audio isn't that great, especially in some scenes. The film was made on a very low budget.

The flimmaker was going for a "raw" and "real" look to the film. I liked the approach. It felt like a doc rather than a fiction film. You might be able to find it at a blockbuster, but I bought mine.

Oh there's a movie I think called Pinero, something like that. Its about a poet, based on a real life story. I'm pretty sure they used mini-dv for this. I know blockbuster carries it. It stars benjamin bratt.

September Tapes is at blockbuster too. This is fiction, but they want you to believe its real. (xl2 or xl1)

"Land of Plenty" by Wim Wenders.

"El milagro de Candeal" by Fernando Trueba.

Both shot on DVX

I'm not sure if you guys are fans of Asian films like I am, but Kenji Tanigaki's "Shinobi" series was shot on MiniDV.

Full Frontal by Steven Soderbergh was shot partially on the XL1s. If you were reading any of the industry rags a couple years back that one was impossible not to know about.

Yeah.. that, as Canon believes, is what killed Canon. Canon spent so much money on the marketing of that relationship.. seriously, EVERY single magazine, sometimes twice was pushing Soderberg and the XL1s... and then Steven went and whacked the footage to hell so it looked like ****, when it came out and people saw it you could hear crickets in the Canon order office.
