Big problem with after effect - need help ASAP

I cant figured out what I did wrong. in my trash, I found a folder named Recovered Files, but I didn't know where it goes, it maybe this the problem. I run on Mac OS X and I need to finish a project for tomorow, I'm in really big trouble.

Please help me!

trashing prefs works for a lot of programs as a fix. however, it's a pain to reset your prefs afterwards if you don't work at default. you can create a copy of the prefs after you have set them and before they get corrupted and keep them in a seperate folder on your drive. then when you trash, you can replace with a fresh copy of your "good" prefs and things are already the way you like them....
