ok, so i have a DVX100b, and im saving to get a cheap little one chip camera to import with but for now, and for the past several months (scince december when i got it) i have been captuing footage with the DVX via fire wire.
i have captured 60i, 30p and 24p footage sucessfully in the past
recently, i made a bad mistake, and i loaded up my internal Mac HD on my imac G5 (1g RAM) so much that the computer failed.
i regenerated the computer, and bought an external 250g lacie disk. this worked well until my dad tripped over it... breaking it and now the computer wont recognize it.
when the computer crashed, i upgraded from FCP 5.0.1 to FCS 6 because i lost FCP in the crash. i also got a 1000gig RAID Buffalo external HD to start logging video onto.
QUESTION::::::
latly, iv been shooting all 30p, and i tried to capture some of my tapes for the firsty time in a while the other day, and it will allow me to capture for around 5 seconds before it says "Dropped frames were detected durring capture" or "playback" or something along those lines. i have ONLY used Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ tape, with the exception oif the first tape i ever ran through it (a Panasonic MQ tape)
so, i figured it was sopmething it didnt like bout the capture settings, so i changed it all around, trying advanced pull down removal, NTSC 48 khz, i messed around with the sequence presets, closed all other programs, restarted, and eventually plugged it directly into my new external HD (BUFFALO 1T, which i have mirrored into 2two 500gig drives)-this was a slight improvment, giving me 10 seconds of import time or so, sometimes more before quitting.
on the LCD screen, i see no signs of drop outs, or dropped frames, it plays perfectly, but on the capature now box, before you press "Now", you are able to see split seconds where a frame is dropped...at least thats what it looks like here and there.
rogar-Mark-01(DBG)ABOUT A MONTH AGO::: it was lightly hit with a skatboard, no damage looked to be there, and the lens was fine, continuing to record watchable footage.
(could that literally have jolted the camera to start missing frames WHILE recording?!?)
NOTE: the same day (yesterday) when i tried again to import 30p footage, my friend sucsessfully captures widescreen HDV 1080i footage from his FX1 onto my computer.
DO YOU THINK THIS IS A COMPUTER ISSUE? OR DO I NEED TO GET MY CAMERA CLEANED OR SOMETHING?
WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!
this camera and computer set up is my life im hoping to god i can make it work again :undecided
